City officials state parking is allowed anywhere cars can park, provided the vehicles are registered and operational. However, caravans must be moved every two weeks by regulation. A motorhome driver died at the scene of an accident in Metelen. A part detached from a slurry spreader trailer and smashed through the windshield of the oncoming motorhome. A passenger in the car following behind was unharmed.

The Neumünster police will conduct a free safety check for motorhomes and caravans on March 29. The event at the Aalbek rest area will include weighing vehicles and providing advice on loading, gas systems, and theft prevention.
