Japanese publication JAF Mate Online has selected five compact camper vans (バンコン) based on minivans and light commercial vans, designed for both everyday driving and overnight stays. In 2025, Japan sold 13,435 RVs, of which 57% (7,726) were camper vans. The list includes models based on the Nissan NV200, Honda Stepwgn, Honda Freed, and Toyota TownAce. Prices range from 4.15 million yen (ANNEX Canelé comfort) to 5.47 million yen (NISSAN P's Field Craft CRAFT CAMPER LUMINO). The ROUTE SIX Liera (Honda Freed) is currently not accepting orders due to high demand.
