In Borgofranco d'Ivrea, owners of four establishments in the Balmetti area have asked the prefectural commissioner to delay the start of construction of a paid camper van parking area in the square until after summer. The €150,000 project, 80% funded by the ministry, involves a fenced area with a barrier that will occupy the current parking lot for 10 years. A representative of the J Amis dij Balmit association stated that closing the square without alternative parking would cause a drastic drop in summer visitors and threaten about twenty jobs. Options under consideration include postponing work to autumn with a deadline extension to June 2027, or concentrating work Monday through Thursday with partial parking availability on weekends.
