New overnight parking schemes
Since April, overnight parking for campervans and motorhomes has been allowed at 11 car parks in Cornwall and 10 car parks in East Devon. During this time, Cornwall recorded about 1,000 overnight stays, while East Devon recorded more than 2,600 over 10 months to 1 September.
Conditions and cost
In Cornwall, parking costs 20 pounds sterling per night, with a maximum stay of two consecutive nights; motorhomes must be self-contained with their own toilet. In East Devon, an overnight stay costs 20 pounds sterling per night.
Results
Local authorities report a reduction in anti-social behaviour and increased income for car parks and local businesses.
