Sabak Bernam plans eco-tourism expansion with motorhome and caravan sites

The Selangor state government announced plans to develop ecotourism in Sabak Bernam. The project includes building a nature resort, motorhome and caravan camping sites, and multiple interconnected tourist stops. The aim is to attract more visitors and extend their stay, following a model similar to New Zealand. Emphasis is placed on environmental sustainability and mangrove conservation.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof toured the Bernama motorhome displayed at the Energy Transition Conference 2026 (ETCon26) in Kuala Lumpur. The motorhome, named Bernama Mobile Studio, was launched a year ago to enable live interviews in the field. It is the first media vehicle in Malaysia to use a recreational vehicle for reporting, powered by electric batteries. The three-day conference attracted about 4,000 participants from over 60 countries.

The Selangor State Tourism Board announced the opening of the first high-altitude RV campsite in the region, located at the Sri Bekat resort in Fraser's Hill. The site will accommodate 80–100 RVs and is a public-private partnership project. It is set to open in June 2025 as part of preparations for the Malaysia and Selangor tourism years in 2026.

La Hilir glamping in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, has opened on a former rubber plantation. The retreat features three tents rented exclusively to one group. All structures were built by hand without heavy machinery to preserve the natural terrain. Platforms rest on individual concrete footings, and furniture is made from reclaimed wood from abandoned village houses.

Mitsubishi is testing a prototype of the new Pajero directly against the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. The model is expected to debut in the third quarter of 2026. The new Pajero will be built on the ladder frame platform from the Triton pickup, feature Super Select II four-wheel drive, and an 8-speed automatic transmission.
