Public campsites in South Korea attract 1,300 more visitors than last year

LG Electronics and Kia have developed a camper concept based on the Kia PV5 electric vehicle, featuring AI-controlled appliances. The prototype is on display at Haevichi Hotel on Jeju Island, with a commercial version expected within 1–2 years.

LG Electronics and Kia have jointly developed the Spielraum GlowCabin concept camper based on the Kia PV5 electric van. The prototype features LG home appliances with voice control via the ThinQ On AI hub. It is on display at a hotel on Jeju Island until the end of August 2026. The companies are in talks about commercialization.

LG Electronics showcased the PV5 motorhome concept at a Seoul exhibition on March 27, 2025, featuring integrated AI and home appliances like a refrigerator and oven. The vehicle is part of LG's 'Moving AI Home' initiative, aiming to expand its smart ecosystem into mobile living spaces.

Public campsites in Dangjin, operated by Dangjin Urban Corporation, have seen a significant increase in visitors due to improved reservation systems and an early season opening. As of May 19, the cumulative number of visitors exceeded 3,600, up by over 1,300 compared to the same period last year. The seaside location and affordable pricing have boosted bookings, particularly on weekends and holidays, supporting local tourism and economic activity.

After the Kia Mohave was discontinued in South Korea, demand for traditional body-on-frame large SUVs was left unmet. The only alternative is the Rexton New Arena from KG Mobility. It features a 2.2-liter diesel engine producing 202 hp and 45.0 kgf·m of torque, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and standard trailer sway control. Maximum towing capacity is 3 tons. Cargo space with rear seats folded reaches 1,977 liters. Prices for the 2026 model year start at 39.99 million won for the Premium 2WD trim.
