Camping in Saarland is booming: overnight stays at campsites in the region rose by 26.7% in 2025. In late June, the new terraced motorhome site 'DraussZeit' opened at Bostalsee, offering space for up to 58 motorhomes and tiny houses. The site operates self-service: guests check in at a machine, receive a card to open the barrier, and pay at the end of their stay. Amenities include electricity, a shop, a bread roll service, sanitary facilities (including accessible ones), and dogs are welcome. The idea came from founder Sandra Nickels-Laubenthal and her husband, inspired by a site on Lake Chiemsee; it took three years to obtain approval.
