Convenience store chain Lawson began a trial in July 2025, offering parking spaces for overnight vehicle stays at six stores in Chiba Prefecture. The service costs 2,500 to 3,000 yen per night and provides two parking spaces per reservation from 6 PM to 9 AM. The trial has proven popular, with near-capacity bookings on weekends, coinciding with a record 165,000 registered campervans in Japan in 2024.
