The municipality of Fossacesia has announced a tender for the concession of a camper van area on the southern coast, in the Grotte locality. The area covers about 1,800 square meters and is designed for approximately 20 motorhomes. The starting bid is €11,000 per year, with bids accepted only at a higher price. The concession term is three years.
The concessionaire will be responsible for management, maintenance and operation, and may also set up a kiosk and determine tariffs. The area was closed in November 2024 due to its classification as a "red zone" (maximum flood risk) according to the hydrological plan (according to one source, the Hydrogeological Plan due to studies of the Maier stream). After lengthy bureaucratic procedures and consultations with regional and local authorities, including obtaining a nine-year lease from the Province of Chieti, the tender was published. Applications are accepted until 12:00 on June 13, 2026.
