Allgäuer Zeitung has published a list of campsites in the Allgäu region that stay open during the winter season. In Oberallgäu, Iller Camping Sonthofen, Camping Wertacher Hof, Camping Öschlesee, Camping Oberstdorf, Insel-Camping am See, Camping Waldesruh and Alpen-Rundblick Mobil Camping operate year-round. Several sites open in December: Camping Zeh am See and Camping Bergheimat from 26 December, Camping Grüntensee from 15 December, and Alpsee Camping from 12 December to 9 January 2027. In Ostallgäu, Camping Brunnen, Camping Bannwaldsee, Via Claudia Camping and Camping Elbsee are open all year, while Campingplatz Seewang operates from 26 December to 9 January 2027. The ADAC recommends booking early, using winter tyres with at least 4 mm tread and carrying snow chains.
