Four motorhome associations sent a letter of protest to the mayor, proposing a paid alternative. At the council meeting on May 4, the opposition Socialist Party accused the administration of abandoning a working solution. Mayor Tiago Carran rejected the proposal to return the parking to its former location, calling overnight stays there illegal. As a temporary measure, a new site has been allocated on Avenida Maria de Lurdes de Melo e Castro, two kilometers from the old park, where dumping infrastructure is planned.
