Caravan park expansion approved despite objections and 'shenanigans' claim

Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland announced on social media the purchase of a retro luxury Airstream camper customized by fashion brand Supreme. The Sun reports that such models can cost over £110,000, while this unit was priced at £67,000. Haaland said he plans to use the camper for road trips and overnight stays.

The Southwest Motorhome Show 2026 will be held at the Bath & West Showground in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September. The event brings together dealers, exhibitors, motorhomes and campervans, alongside talks, demonstrations and live entertainment. Opening hours are 9.30am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday and 9.30am to 4pm on Sunday. Day tickets are £10 in advance or £15 without advance booking, with entry free for those aged 17 and under. On Saturday, a Repair Café will run from 11am to 1pm at The Art Bank Café, where volunteers will assess electrical appliances, mechanical and wooden items, jewellery, bags and clothes for repair.

Hoburne, which operates caravan parks in Dorset and the New Forest, has been named the UK's best caravan park operator by consumer group Which?. It was also named a Which? Recommended Provider for the third consecutive year. The company runs seven sites in southern England, including Hoburne Park, Hoburne Naish and Hoburne Bashley. The parks received a customer score of 81% and five stars for food and drink.

Somerset Council has approved traffic regulation orders introducing double yellow lines on several streets in Glastonbury to prevent unauthorised roadside encampments. Restrictions will be implemented on all four arms of the Morland roundabout, at the mini-roundabout on Tor View Avenue, and zig-zag markings will be installed near St. Dunstan's School. As of late February, 131 people were living in vans, caravans or motorhomes on roadsides in the town. The measures are part of a wider plan that includes developing an official site for the 'non-bricks and mortar' community under the £23.6m Glastonbury town deal.

Cyngor Gwynedd's planning committee refused a bid to extend a seasonal touring caravan park in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near Aberdaron. Reasons include landscape impact, lack of flood risk and drainage assessments, and inadequate access.

On the evening of September 8, a caravan belonging to an elderly couple was completely destroyed in a fire on the A477 near the Nash Fingerpost junction in Pembrokeshire. Local reports indicate the caravan had been left in a layby after a wheel bearing failure, and its door was found open the previous morning, suggesting a possible break-in. Firefighters from Pembroke Dock attended at around 7pm, using two hose reel jets, breathing apparatus, and a thermal imaging camera, but the caravan was beyond saving. Dyfed-Powys Police has been contacted for comment.
