In Pisogne (Brescia province), a petition has been launched against the construction of a camper area in the Nistoi district. The initiative was promoted by Legambiente Basso Sebino and a group of residents, joined by Legambiente Valle Camonica, Lipu Brescia e Bergamo, and Italia Nostra Valle Camonica.
The project, financed through project financing of 350 thousand euros, would create about 50 parking spaces on an area of roughly 3000 square meters, with management transferred to the initiating company for 20 years. Opponents point to the ecological value of the site: proximity to reed beds, biodiversity, and flood risk from the Oglio river and Lake Iseo. They also note that a campsite with camper pitches already exists a few hundred meters away.
Signatures are being collected in the Nistoi district, the center of Pisogne, and in Val Palot, then will be handed to the mayor with a request to cancel the project. According to one source, the plots were previously used as a scout meadow and have protected status.
