The motorhome area on the right bank of the river between the Palmas and Autonomía bridges in Badajoz has reopened after the installation of 20 smart parking sensors. The sensors are designed to monitor occupancy in real time. Installation took place on June 29–30, during which the area was closed; it reopened on June 30 after 7:00 PM.
The project is part of the "Smart Destination Platform" initiative worth €499,651.28, funded by the EU's NextGenerationEU funds. In addition to modernizing the motorhome area, the project includes digitization of tourist offices and creation of digital twins of city monuments. The date for putting the sensors into operation has not yet been set.
