The traditional camping trip to sunny regions is becoming a luxury product due to high fuel prices and the high consumption of motorhomes and heavy tow cars. A round trip from central Netherlands to southern France covering about 2000 kilometers, with a consumption of 10–14 liters per 100 km, now costs hundreds of liters of expensive fuel. Switching to electric vehicles does not solve the problem, as towing a caravan halves the range and requires frequent charging stops.
