Camping in Rhineland-Palatinate expects over 3 million overnight stays in 2025

German singer Sonia Liebing shared a problem with her caravan on Instagram. While preparing it for sale, it was discovered that the travel trailer was completely moldy due to moisture, which led to a significant price reduction.

The 'Camping am Hasetal' campsite, spanning 7.5 hectares, is scheduled to open in Meppen-Backemude by spring 2026. The site will feature an artificially created lake, and each pitch for motorhomes, caravans, or tents will include a private bathroom. Prior to construction, archaeologists discovered settlement traces on the grounds dating from the Neolithic period to the early Middle Ages.

Germany's Federal Fiscal Court has ruled that selling an expensive motorhome can be classified as the disposal of an item for everyday use, making it tax-exempt. The court rejected the tax authority's arguments, stating that a high price and even rental use do not automatically disqualify an item from this status if it was acquired for personal use and is subject to depreciation. The ruling was issued on January 27, 2026, concerning the sale of a motorhome for €315,000, originally purchased for €323,000 in 2020.

In Munich residential areas like Gilmstraße, motorhomes and caravans occupy parking spaces for weeks, especially in winter. City officials state parking is allowed anywhere cars can park, provided the vehicles are registered and operational. However, caravans must be moved every two weeks by regulation. The city cannot impose a general ban as it contradicts federal traffic laws.

A motorhome driver died at the scene of an accident in Metelen. A part detached from a slurry spreader trailer and smashed through the windshield of the oncoming motorhome. A passenger in the car following behind was unharmed.

The Neumünster police will conduct a free safety check for motorhomes and caravans on March 29. The event at the Aalbek rest area will include weighing vehicles and providing advice on loading, gas systems, and theft prevention.
