A couple took a 15-day car camping trip around Hokkaido in June 2026. Three days before departure, their ferry from Oarai was cancelled due to a typhoon, but they managed to book a ferry from Niigata to Otaru, which had little impact on their itinerary. Other issues included closed restaurants, insufficient storage for video footage (1 TB filled up by day 11), and changing campsites due to slope and darkness.
