Tourism in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern: Camping is the growth market this year

Camping is booming in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern this year, with more than one million overnight stays at campsites in the first five months — a record. Total overnight stays reached 9.57 million, up 2.8% from the previous year. However, hoteliers and restaurateurs are increasingly critical of the economic situation: a survey shows half of businesses are satisfied with the season, a quarter are not. High energy prices, staff and purchasing costs, and subdued consumer sentiment are putting pressure on the industry.
