Tendo City Signs Agreement to Rent RVs for Disaster Response

Tendo City (Yamagata Prefecture) has signed an agreement with motorhome manufacturer and seller VANTECH, which has a factory in Murayama, to rent vehicles in the event of a disaster. Under the agreement, VANTECH will provide the city with motorhomes that can accommodate up to five people for use by staff dispatched from other municipalities, medical workers, and those needing special accommodations in shelters. The company previously sent motorhomes to the Noto Peninsula earthquake in January 2024. This is the sixth such agreement VANTECH has signed with municipalities in the prefecture.

In the event of a major earthquake or flood, the city will have priority access to camper vans for housing dispatched staff and medical workers. Each camper van sleeps up to 6 people, includes a microwave, sink, portable toilet, and air conditioning; with a fully charged battery, it can maintain 27°C overnight.
