Tendo City in Yamagata Prefecture has signed an agreement with camper van manufacturer VANTECH to secure priority rental of vehicles during natural disasters. The campers will serve as temporary accommodation for personnel dispatched from other municipalities and for medical workers. Previously, the city lacked infrastructure to house such staff.
This is Tendo's 65th disaster-response agreement. Each camper van sleeps up to five people, is equipped with air conditioning and heating, and was previously rented out during the Noto Peninsula earthquake.
