Residents of the Isle of Skye in Scotland are voicing concerns over the behaviour of tourists travelling in campervans and motorhomes. More than 30,000 such trips are made to the Scottish Highlands every year, with many of them touring the Isle of Skye.
Farmer Calum Beaton said he has found chemical toilet waste in his rubbish bin and excrement on the ground. Other locals complain about litter and a lack of toilet facilities. Businesswoman Sarah MacKinnon notes that 95% of visitors behave responsibly.
NatureScot states that the access code does not give the right to park a motorhome or sleep in a campervan on a roadside verge.
