Ahead of the holiday season, police in two German regions are holding weighing actions for motorhomes and caravans.
In the Lippe region (North Rhine-Westphalia), the action takes place today and tomorrow in Detmold. According to police, Lippe has 5251 registered motorhomes — more than any other district in East Westphalia-Lippe. The check verifies whether the total vehicle weight exceeds the limit allowed for the driver's license category. No fines are planned; the action is preventive.
In the Emsland region and the county of Bentheim, free weighing will take place on 3 July 2026 in Meppen and on 4 July 2026 in Nordhorn. Drivers can check actual weight, axle and nose loads, as well as undergo a technical inspection and receive recommendations for a safe trip.
