The author describes a late-December 2025 car trip with overnight stays in the vehicle along the route from Yamaguchi to Fukuoka. On 30 December the family arrived in Fukuoka, visited a 97-year-old grandmother and stayed at Route Inn Yanagawa Ekimae hotel, which offered free breakfast and parking plus a hot spring. On 31 December they moved to Hakata, stayed at Hotel Halrot Fukuoka Hakata and dined at the izakaya Juttokuya, which had been booked in advance.
