The French magazine Le Monde du Camping-Car has published a feature on Morocco as a popular destination for motorhome travelers. The publication notes the country's geographical proximity to Europe, its diverse landscapes ranging from the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts to the Atlas Mountains and southern deserts, and its mild climate during the winter months.
According to Patrick Laplanche, president of the French Federation of Motorhome Associations and Clubs, between 10,000 and 12,000 French motorhome travelers visit Morocco each year. The country has several hundred campsites and reception areas, as well as dedicated routes for this type of tourism.
Motorhome tourists tend to stay longer and spend more than regular vacationers, making them an important economic factor for local businesses.
