Camping-car (France)

Vehicle Types France

Camping-car, camping car, French for motorhome, autocaravane, fourgon aménagé, VASP caravane

Camping-car is the French word for a motorhome and the standard term across France, Belgium and French-speaking Switzerland. In registration documents it corresponds to the VASP Caravane category.

The word is everywhere, from "aire de camping-car" signage to classified ads, so you cannot find stopovers or parts in France without it. France is Europe's largest market, home to Rapido, Chausson, Pilote and Challenger and to the CAMPING-CAR PARK network. Formally camping-car covers A-class, low-profile and van conversions alike, though ads usually list the last of these separately as fourgon aménagé.
