Electric vehicle owners in North America are actively using their cars to tow heavy trailers, overcoming range limitations. Stephen Hill, 73, drove a Tesla Model Y from Ontario to Vancouver Island and back, towing a 28-foot Airstreamⓘ weighing 3,500 kg, once arriving with just 1% battery charge. Andy Thomson of Can-Am RV Centre drove 2,200 km from London, Ontario to Colorado Springs in 2.5 days towing a 27-foot Airstream with a Tesla Model S, noting improved range at high altitudes due to thinner air. EV sales in the U.S. reached 7.4% in 2025, while Canada saw 8.7%, down from 11% in 2024.
