According to an ACSI study, 90 out of 10,000 European campsites accept adults only. Their number has increased by 41% over five years: in 2021 there were 64. Most such sites are in the UK (40), the Netherlands (23) and France (13). Germany has four — in Rhineland-Palatinate, Bavaria and Brandenburg. Eight of these sites also ban dogs.
Family camping remains popular: the number of family showers has grown by 25%, covered playgrounds by 9%, and water playgrounds by 44%. A German court has allowed private campsites to exclude children.
