Pensioners Fernando and Ana from Spain moved into a 1997 Fiat Ducatoⓘ Maxi motorhome three years ago, which they fully renovated by hand. The renovation took five months and cost 1,631 euros, while painting alone was estimated at over 3,000 euros.
The couple says living in the motorhome has allowed them to reduce expenses and get rid of recurring payments such as mortgage and utilities. Now they have money left at the end of the month, unlike when they lived in a regular apartment. They decided to leave the conventional routine and become nomads, stating: "We also need to enjoy what we have left."
The motorhome has hot water, heating, a fridge and a kitchen. The couple compares it to a house but notes the freedom: "It's like a house, but it gives us the freedom to have a different garden every day." They also recommend getting a small motorcycle for getting around.
