The Korkusuz family from Çağbaşı village (Siirt), beekeepers for 36 years, received a 50% subsidy from Turkey's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to buy a caravan and equipment under the Rural Development Investments Support Program. The total support amounted to 1.856 million liras. Previously, the beekeepers lived in tents and shacks; now they can comfortably move with the caravan between pastures in Bitlis and Van provinces. The caravan is equipped with electricity, water, toilet, TV and refrigerator.
The family increased the number of hives to 1,300 and produces about 20 tonnes of honey per year. The head of the family's nephew, İbrahim Korkusuz, also started beekeeping after receiving 220 hives under the same program. According to Siirt's agriculture directorate, the province ranks 5th in Turkey in honey production (over 3,000 tonnes with 258,000 hives). In 2025, about 110 producers received support totaling 234 million liras.
