In 2025, Germany recorded 44.7 million overnight stays at campsites, a 4.2% increase from 2024 and nearly a quarter above the 2019 level, according to the Federal Statistical Office. Over 20 years, camping overnight stays more than doubled, while all accommodation types grew by only 44.6%. Top destinations included the Baltic Sea coast in Schleswig-Holstein (3.5 million), the Black Forest (2.6 million), and the North Sea coast in Lower Saxony (2.0 million).
