Best routes for a five-day motorhome camping trip revealed

The Baili Rhododendron management area in Bijie, Guizhou province, is developing motorhome campsites. Local authorities are leveraging the area's favorable ecological conditions and unique mountain climate to promote summer tourism. Motorhome travelers from across the country are visiting, boosting local incomes and injecting new momentum into the regional economy.

In summer 2026, China's cultural tourism subsidy of 450 million yuan makes motorhome travel more affordable. A route through Guizhou province is proposed: from Guiyang to the Baili Dujuan motorhome camp in Bijie, the largest in the country, with visits to Zhijin Cave and Wumeng Prairie. Camping costs 20 yuan per day, motorhome rental from 400 yuan. The route is about 500 km long, with daily drives not exceeding 2 hours.

A family took a motorhome trip to the Xiaolangdi Reservoir, combining sightseeing with dining and family time. The trip highlights the growing popularity of motorhome travel for family leisure.

China is seeing a surge in demand for motorhomes and camping. Exports of motorhomes from Rongcheng reached 1.06 billion yuan in the first half of the year, up 21% year-on-year, while domestic sales grew by over 40%. Motorhome rentals also rose, with occupancy in popular cities exceeding 70% in the last two months and orders up more than 50%.
