RV Owners Discuss Hotel Alternative

An analyst downgraded Winnebago Industries (NYSE:WGO) from a buy to a sell rating. The downgrade is attributed to weak segment trends in the RV industry, low consumer confidence, and dividend risk. The current valuation is considered stretched.

A person was found dead following a motorhome fire late Tuesday night in Bunnell, Flagler County, Florida. Neighbors reported the blaze at 11:47 p.m. on Lake Drive. Emergency responders arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. After extinguishing the fire, they discovered remains inside. The victim has not been positively identified. The Florida State Fire Marshal and Medical Examiner's Office are investigating the cause.

Michael Keith Kluttz, 55, and Edward Jerome Little, 65, both Duke Energy employees, are accused of illegally tapping into a company substation in Concord, North Carolina. Warrants allege they provided unauthorized power to Ver-El RV Park, a campground across from Charlotte Motor Speedway. The stolen electricity is valued at an estimated $591,000. Both face charges including injury to an energy facility, obtaining property by false pretense, and money laundering; Little also faces weapons charges for an automatic firearm.

The National RV Training Academy (NRVTA) has added Craig Ramon to its instructional team as an approved instructor for RV service and generator technician programs. Ramon holds an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences, RVTAA certifications, and is a 2025 NRVTA graduate. He also runs an RV repair and rental business and previously served as a fire chief for nearly 25 years. The academy stated that his background in emergency services and technical operations will provide students with practical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

Booking platform Pitchup.com reported a shift among Americans toward camping as a primary summer vacation, not just a weekend getaway. Average trip length rose from 1.8 to 3.05 days, and booking windows expanded from 25.9 to 44.6 days. Domestic camping bookings increased 69% year-over-year. Globally, bookings for pre-pitched 'ready tents' grew 45% year-over-year, indicating rising interest in low-maintenance outdoor travel.

Scouting America announced a partnership with Go RVing, naming it the Official RV Partner of the 2026 National Jamboree. The event will take place July 22-30, 2026, at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in Glen Jean, West Virginia. Go RVing will provide resources for the Exploration Merit Badge program and host an interactive activation at the Jamboree.
