Albania by Motorhome: From Shkodër to Butrint

The SH21 road from Shkodër to Theth has been fully paved since 2021, but remains narrow and winding. Albania has introduced new toll sections with fees based on vehicle height and axle count, so a motorhome may pay more than a car. According to a TUI ranking, Albania tops the list of Europe's most camper-friendly countries, ahead of Italy and Croatia. The average price per night at a campsite in Albania is less than 20 euros. Poland ranks second, Germany third. The ranking considered campsite costs, food and drink prices, transport, climate, nature, culture, and leisure. In Germany, 44.7 million overnight stays at campsites were recorded in 2025, up 4.2% from the previous year. Since 2020, the cost of a night at a motorhome parking spot has risen by 32.2%.

Unlike other countries along the Adriatic coast, Albania remains a relatively unknown destination for tourists due to lagging infrastructure and service quality. However, the country is gaining popularity among travelers in motorhomes and camper vans.
