In 2018, Dominique, aged 101, was told by doctors she had only weeks to live. Her granddaughter Fiona then took her on a nearly two-year motorhome journey across the world, covering thousands of kilometres, including 450 km of the Camino de Santiago, where Fiona pushed Dominique in a wheelchair. Dominique died on 29 June 2020 at the age of 103. Fiona has since written a book about their adventures and, with her parents, is touring France to highlight the importance of social connection for the elderly.
