French author Fiona Lauriol and her parents Fosca and Thierry stopped in Cahors on 26 October 2026 as part of a motorhome tour across Europe. The tour aims to raise awareness of the social isolation of older people. Since 2022 they have travelled through 40 countries and met more than a thousand politicians, including at the National Assembly, the Senate and Paris City Hall. Lauriol said the number of older people in France experiencing 'social death' has risen from 50,000 in 2010 to one million. After Cahors the group continued to Sarlat and then to La Faute-sur-Mer in Vendée.
