Spain's General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has updated the rules for motorhomes and converted vans. The main changes concern the frequency of technical inspections (ITV) and parking regulations.
Inspection schedule
- Motorhomes (category M): exempt from ITV for the first 4 years, then every 2 years up to 10 years, then annually.
- Converted vans/campers (category N): annual ITV up to 10 years, then every 6 months.
Parking and new sign
Municipalities retain the authority to regulate parking within urban areas. A new road sign S-128 has been introduced to indicate wastewater disposal points.
According to sources, the number of registered motorhomes in Spain has grown from 48,000 in 2015 to approximately 137,000.
