Spain's General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has approved a new instruction updating the regulation of motorhomes and camper vans. The document introduces different inspection intervals for the two vehicle types.
According to source 1, motorhomes undergo their first inspection after 4 years, while camper vans are inspected annually up to 10 years. Source 2 specifies: for motorhomes, exemption up to 4 years, then every two years until 10 years, then annually; for camper vans, annually up to 10 years, then every six months.
The instruction also confirms that parking is allowed under general conditions, but municipalities may impose restrictions. Deploying camping elements (e.g., awnings or tables) outside designated areas is prohibited.
