Stricter EU Mandate for Driver Assistance Systems: Motorhomes to Become Safer but Also More Expensive
Original source: newstime.joyn.de

From July 2026, all new motorhomes registered in the EU must comply with the General Safety Regulation (GSR). Vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes will require eight mandatory electronic assistance systems, including lane-keeping, automatic emergency braking, and tire pressure monitoring. Industry estimates suggest price increases of €1,000 to €3,000 per unit. Dealers are currently offering discounts on pre-GSR models during the transition period.
