The Burgas District Prosecutor's Office is challenging decisions by the Tsarevo Municipal Council to lease plots near Butamyata Beach and in Sinemorets for caravans, campers and tents.
According to the prosecutor's office, in Sinemorets two plots totaling over 27,000 sq. m could not be leased through a tender, and an environmental impact assessment was not conducted because they lie within the protected zone of Strandzha Nature Park and Natura 2000. The office demands the decisions be revoked and has given three days for a response.
The Tsarevo administration denies any major violations, noting that the decisions were sent to the prosecutor's office and regional administration on February 24, 2026, and were not contested. Administrative violation reports have already been issued against the tenant by RIOSV-Burgas and the municipality. The municipality stated it will follow the ruling of a Bulgarian court.
