A bill to establish the rights and obligations of long-term caravan park residents and park owners has passed the lower house of Tasmania's Parliament. The state was the only one in Australia where such residents lacked protections equivalent to residential tenants regarding rent increases, bonds, and evictions. The legislation follows a protracted conflict at one park and extensive consultation that generated 58 submissions.
