Mundi Mundi opens gates after rain disrupts camping

Organizers of the Mundi Mundi Bash near Broken Hill opened the gates for free entry on the final day after weather improved. Heavy rain had made parts of the camping area unusable, preventing thousands of ticket holders from attending. Founder Greg Donovan said about 75 mm of rain fell over 11 days, a third of Broken Hill's annual average. Around 10,000 attendees showed up, compared to the expected 15,000.

Holiday park changes spark petition

A petition has been launched over changes at Cotton Tree Family Holiday Park, with a long-time visitor calling for the reinstatement of an amenities block and a review of site fees. Shane Croasdale, who has visited for 17 years, claims the removal of the block has forced guests to walk 200 meters at night and that fees have risen by at least 25%. The Sunshine Coast Council disputes the fee increase, saying it ranged from 4% to 20%, and cites maintenance issues as the reason for the block's removal.

New Lismore expo challenges grey nomad stereotype amid caravan boom

The inaugural Lismore Outdoor Adventure plus Home & Lifestyle Expo took place at the Lismore Showgrounds from 14–16 August, featuring caravans, camping gear, home improvement products and family entertainment. According to Tourism Research Australia, 5.5 million domestic caravan and camping visitors travelled to New South Wales in 2025, with the North Coast accounting for 26% of them. Nationally, domestic caravan and camping trips rose 14% year-on-year to 17.3 million. The data also shows that 43% of such visitors to NSW are in full-time employment, challenging the traditional grey nomad image.
