Greece has introduced strict rules against wild camping, effective from mid-June 2026. Setting up tents, caravans and campers outside official campsites is prohibited, including on beaches, forests and nature reserves.
Overnight stays inside a motorhome up to 7.5 m long are permitted, provided there are no external signs of camping such as awnings, tables, furniture or barbecues. Fines start at 300 euros per person or vehicle and can reach 3000 euros for serious violations. According to some sources, criminal prosecution, legal proceedings and imprisonment are possible.
