Sort by any metric and pick your next stop. A comparison of 13 regions of Greece by VanSky score — where it's most comfortable to travel right now. We factor in temperature, wind, sun and conditions by the sea.
The country score (0–100) is computed from all of its cities, not a single point. Cities are grouped into regions, and a region's score is the median of its cities so dense clusters don't outweigh sparse ones. Final score = 0.65 × “best areas” (80th percentile of regions) + 0.35 × “typical conditions” (median of regions), so one warm city can't push the whole country to 100. Each city's score blends warmth (feels-like), sun, rain and wind, adjusted for night temperature and, on the coast, the sea. Data: Open-Meteo, refreshed several times a day.
The scale above shows what share of the country's cities falls into each comfort band. “Best spot” is the most comfortable region or city this week; “typical conditions” is the median score across regions.

News from Greece Latest News from Greece
All NewsAuthorities in Veroia and the local forestry service dismantled an illegal campsite in the mountainous area of Seli, Imathia. Motorhomes and tents were removed from the site, which had been used for several years without permission. The operation followed complaints from residents about noise and unauthorized structures, including cooking facilities and cleared land.
Bulgarian reality TV stars Sami Hosny and Mila Savova spent the summer in a caravan in Greece, at a campsite near the resort of Nea Iraklitsa, close to Kavala. Hosny, a fitness instructor of Egyptian descent, and his wife, known from the show 'Survivor', chose this type of vacation for its simplicity and family time. They emphasize that the caravan is their home, not a compromise.
In 2025, overnight stays at campsites and motorhome pitches in the EU reached 413 million, up 28.5% from 2015, compared to 23.4% growth for hotels. Greece, despite its natural potential, underuses this segment: Law 5170/2025, while expanding opportunities for glamping, simultaneously imposes bans on motorhome parking and tent pitching in certain public areas with a fine of 300 euros, creating a lack of legal infrastructure.
EU camping nights hit 413 million in 2025 (+28.5% vs 2015), while Greece accounts for under 1% of tourist flow. Authorities lack a dedicated camping strategy.
On Monday afternoon, an SUV towing a camper overturned on the Pyrgos–Kyparissia road in Elis. Firefighters freed the couple, who were taken to Krestena hospital.
On Monday afternoon in Kato Samiko (Ilia), a car towing a caravan left the road and overturned. Tourists were trapped, at least one person injured.
