A plan has been submitted to Denbighshire County Council to convert the Lower Barkby car park on Barkby Avenue in Prestatyn into a site for up to 10 motorhomes. The application, presented by the highways and environmental services department, seeks a change of use for the site.
If approved, motorhomes would be allowed to stay for a maximum of 48 hours between April and mid-September. The plan includes sewage connections and waste disposal facilities. Barbecues, campfires, awnings, and tents would be prohibited.
The project is part of the Denbighshire Motorhome 'Aires' scheme, which aims to address illegal overnight parking in unauthorized locations. Six car parks across the county have been identified, including Rhyl, Prestatyn, Ruthin, Llangollen, and Corwen. The pilot scheme is not intended to compete with campsites.
