A petition in England is calling for a change to driving licence rules for motorhomes and campervans. It asks the government to allow drivers with a standard category B licence to operate vehicles weighing up to 4,250 kg. Currently, the UK limit is 3,500 kg, and vehicles above that require a special C1 category.
The petition, which has gathered more than 4,000 signatures, cites new EU rules adopted in October that permit a weight increase if additional training or a skills assessment is completed. The National Caravan Council is lobbying for the UK to adopt these changes.
To be considered by Parliament, the petition needs 100,000 signatures.
