The UK Department for Transport (DfT) responded to a petition of over 11,000 signatures requesting that Category B licence holders be allowed to drive motorhomes weighing up to 4,250 kg (current limit 3,500 kg). The DfT stated it keeps licence rules under review but has not assessed the benefits of such a change. Any future amendment would require public consultation and a full impact assessment. The EU has already adopted a directive allowing heavier motorhomes on a Category B licence with additional training or testing.
