Spain's Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) has published a new instruction clarifying parking and overnight rules for motorhomes and campers. A new road sign S-128 has been introduced, indicating wastewater disposal points.
Different technical inspection intervals are set: for motorhomes, as for passenger cars, and for converted vans — annually until 10 years old, then every six months. Municipalities are empowered to limit parking duration and prohibit camping within city limits. Sleeping inside the vehicle is allowed if properly parked, but local ordinances may restrict where one can legally spend the night.
The number of motorhomes in the country has tripled in ten years, reaching nearly 137,000 units.
