Illegal caravan encampment in Longvic: mayor and opposition clash over response

Around a hundred caravans have illegally occupied the Étang Royal area in Longvic, prompting criticism from the local political movement Longvic vers l'Avenir. The movement highlights a lack of preparation by authorities despite the well-known Pentecost holiday period, which traditionally sees gatherings of traveler families. A shortage of suitable large transit areas in the metropolis is noted. Longvic vers l'Avenir calls for a metropolitan action plan including physical securing of vulnerable sites, accelerated eviction procedures, control of illegal water and electricity connections, and systematic billing for damages. Simultaneously, it proposes opening dialogue to negotiate compensation for resource consumption and site restoration, as judicial eviction may take up to two weeks while the caravans are likely to leave earlier.
