On July 14, 2026, two caravans were placed on a private plot in the Sine forest in Vence, classified as a protected wooded area and a red zone for wildfire risk. Mayor Anne Sattonnet and local resident Arnaud Petitjean expressed concern; the residents' association plans to file a complaint. Gendarmes issued a report but took no further action. The landowner stated he was clearing the land, but the mayor noted that caravans are considered dwellings and their placement in a fire-risk zone is not permitted. The municipality will issue a planning violation notice on July 15 with a daily fine of up to 1,000 euros (maximum 100,000 euros).
