New EU Directive 2025/2205 will permit category B licence holders to drive motorhomes with a maximum authorised mass up to 4,250 kg, and with a trailer up to 5,000 kg in certain cases. Additional training of at least seven hours or a test — or both, depending on the member state — will be required. The new right will be marked with code 96.02 on the driving licence. The directive must be transposed into national law, so current category B licences do not yet allow driving motorhomes over 3,500 kg.
