New rules for motorhomes
EU Directive (EU) 2025/2205 will allow category B licence holders to drive motorhomes with a maximum mass of up to 4,250 kg, or up to 5,000 kg with a trailer. Currently, category B is limited to 3,500 kg, which creates problems for enthusiasts of larger campers.
The right will not be automatic: at least seven hours of additional training or an exam will be required, and in some countries both. The new right will be marked with code 96.02 on the driving licence.
The directive must be transposed into national law, so in Croatia the new rules are not yet in force.
