EU to allow category B licence holders to drive motorhomes up to 4.25 tonnes

A 25-day motorhome route covers the Croatian coast from Rovinj to Dubrovnik, including historic towns, islands and national parks. The Euronews article notes that travelling by motorhome allows stops at places unlikely to be included in a standard itinerary, but in some coastal sections the road is narrow and winding, and parking is only permitted at campsites and designated areas, which are sometimes far from historic centres and can be expensive. During high season, especially in July and August, challenges increase, so spring, early summer or autumn are more suitable periods. The route includes Rovinj, Pula with its 1st-century Roman amphitheatre, Opatija, Nin, Zadar, Plitvice Lakes National Park (16 lakes, Veliki Slap waterfall about 78 metres high, swimming prohibited), Šibenik, Trogir, Split, Makarska Riviera, Ston, Korčula and Dubrovnik.

At around 20:00 this evening on state road D303 in Putini, near the turnoff for Šoriće, a traffic accident occurred involving a camper and a passenger car. Police officers and emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene. It is currently unknown whether there are any injured persons or the severity of any injuries. Police are conducting an on-site investigation to determine all circumstances and the cause of the accident. Drivers passing through this section are advised to exercise additional caution.

On Saturday, 12 September, a fire broke out on Put od Fortica Street in Pula, burning grass, low vegetation and a caravan. No injuries were reported. Police received the report around 1 p.m., and local firefighters extinguished the blaze. An investigation determined the cause was an open flame of unknown origin; the caravan belonged to a 67-year-old Slovenian citizen.

German portal PiNCAMP, which lists over 14,500 campsites in 44 countries, published its list of Europe's most wanted campsites based on German campers' interest on PiNCAMP.de from 1 January to 31 July. The ranking includes campsites with at least four user reviews and an average rating of at least 7 out of 10. Nine campsites from the Kvarner region made the top 100: Kovačine on Cres ranked 19th, Aminess Avalona on Pag 33rd, Omišalj 49th, Čikat on Lošinj 51st, Krk 68th, Ježevac 81st, Lopari 92nd, Baška 94th and Slatina 95th. The highest-ranked Croatian campsite was Valamar Camping Lanterna in Istria at 5th place. Germany, Italy and Croatia were the most sought-after destinations, with the German Baltic Sea coast the most wanted region.

On the night of September 8, an unknown perpetrator broke into a camper belonging to a 46-year-old Italian citizen at the Vukova Gorica rest area, stealing money and other items. Damage exceeds 1,000 euros. In the past 24 hours, the Karlovac police department recorded nine criminal offenses and one misdemeanor for disturbing public order.
